Junior High School CCCians showcase their talents at the Science Culminating Program

The Junior High School Science Department celebrated the 2019 science month with the theme “Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development”. On September 27, 2019, Friday, the semi-finals for the Grade 7 and 8 students was held in the CCC Gymnasium with the respective schedules starting from 10 AM until 12 NN and 1:20 PM to 3:20 PM.


Kay Reago from Grade 9 - St. Albert the Great and Julian Kyle Reyes of Grade 9 - St. John of the Cross hosted the program for the Grade 7 students. On the other hand, Sonrisa Serviño and Yoram Royce Macanlalay, both from Grade 10 - St. Aloysius Gonzaga, served as the emcees for the Grade 8 students. The programs started with an opening prayer led by Eureka Science Club President, Eliza Marie Masa, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.


To begin the said competition, Mr. Simon Erik Dellosa, the Science Subject Area Coordinator, gave his welcoming remarks of encouragement and inspiration for our respective students. This was followed by the reading of mechanics and criteria for judging, as well as the announcement of sets of judges. Mrs. Vicky Cruz, Mr. Darius Ibanez and Ms. Janice Garcia, served as judges for the choral recitation of the Grade 7 students. Moreover, Mr. Rhodel Mapa, Ms. Ednalyn Galang, and Mrs. Josephine Reginio evaluated the song interpretation performances of the Grade 8 students. The performances per section of each grade level were divided into two batches to give way for an intermission number which was presented by the EMS Group.


In both grade levels, 5 sections were chosen as semi-finalists that were qualified compete for the final round. St. Thomas, St. John, St. Jude, St. Simon, and St. Peter were the semi-finalists of Grade 7 as announced by Ms. Janice Garcia. Meanwhile, Ms. Ednalyn Galang declared that Grade 8 - St. Clement of Rome, St. Basil the Great, St. Jerome, St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Cyprian of Carthage have also passed the elimination round. As the program came to an end, Rygine Yosh Raymundo from Grade 9 - St. Francis de Sales led the closing prayer.


The semi-finalists from every grade level moved up to the final round of the following activities launched for the Science Month Culminating Program held last September 30, 2019, Monday. The first batch, composed of students from Grades 7 and 9, assembled at the CCC Gymnasium around 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning. The event started off with opening remarks by the assistant principal of the Junior High School Department, Mr. Daniel John San Pedro– who was also one of the judges, along with Mr. Joriel Catura, the subject area coordinator of the English department, and Mr. Butch Pascasio.


Grades 8 and 10 followed by 11:40 am until 2:40 pm. Mrs. Purificacion Bernados, subject area coordinator of the MAPEH department, Mr. Andy Arcilla, and Mr. Lito Usares comprised the set of judges for the second batch. Video presentations and stage performances are alternatively showcased in front of the audience.


The most awaited part of the program is the announcement of winners. Here are the finalists of the Science Culminating Activity:

St. Jude - 1st runner up

St. Thomas - 2nd runner up


Grade 8 (Song Interpretation)

St. Cyprian of Carthage - CHAMPION

St. Therese of Lisieux - 1st runner up

St. Clement of Rome - 2nd runner up


Grade 9 (Advocacy Video)

St. Albert the Great - CHAMPION

St. Francis de Sales - 1st runner up

St. Teresa of Avila - 2nd runner up


Grade 10 (Investigative Documentary Video)

St. Aloysius Gonzaga - CHAMPION

St. Martin of Tours - 1st runner up

St. Ignatius of Loyola - 2nd runner up
