Last October 15, 2018, from 10:00AM to 5:00PM, the 9th Sainta Paul National Bible Quiz Regional Finals was help at Alberione Hall, Society of Saint Paul, 7708 Saint Paul Road, San Antonio Village in Makati City. Cainta Catholic College (CCC) was one of the sixteen schools who participated in the said event. The representatives of CCC are students from the Junior High school Department: Yaz Barrameda of Grade 9 St. Albert the Great, Junel Andres and Trisha Monato of Grade 10 St. Aloysius Gonzaga. They were accompanied by their official trainer and coach, Mr. Antonio Balaba and assistant coach Mr. Daniel John San Pedro.

They managed to earn the 5th spot but unfortunately, only those who are in the 1st and 2nd spots were able to move forward onto the finals.

Nervous yet happy

“Masaya sa feeling na i-represent mo yung school mo.” [It feels happy to represent your school.] said Junel Andres. Trisha Monato answered “nervous yet super happy.” Yaz Barrameda commented “Nag-enjoy ako. Kung sasali ka dito, kailangan basahin mo talaga lahat.” [I enjoyed. If you want to join, you need to really read everything.] Happiness and joy is very evident in their statements as they answered the question “How do you feel being a participant at the 9th National Bible Quiz?” They also said that they are not that nervous because it is not their first time to join anymore.

Proud because of their competency

Their head trainer, Mr. Balaba, described CCC’s representatives as “Napakagaling nila, may teamwork at suportado ang isa’t-isa, may disiplina. Deserve nila manalo para sa CCC.” [They are very good, they have teamwork and they support each other, they also have discipline. They deserve to win for CCC.] It is his first year in being the head coach of CCC in the 9th National Bible Quiz, yet they already earned a spot in the Top 5.

Hopeful and grateful

He first gave thanks the Lord for what his team achieved “Salamat sa Diyos sa biyaya at sa school sa suporta.” [Thank God for His blessings and the school for their support.] Hopeful for the upcoming 10th National Bible Quiz, Mr. Balaba said “‘Di papatalo ang CCC, next year, sa 10th National Bible Quiz, mananalo na tayo,” [CCC won’t let themselves lose, next year, on the 10th National Bible Quiz, we will win] implying that he is looking forward to earning the 1st place in the next year’s event.
