The Man I Never Had

Writer's picture: Regina Lucis NewsletterRegina Lucis Newsletter

Twenty one years of not having you by my side,

With no trace of memories yet you left me behind.

I smile, I laugh but I’m grieving inside,

Those pain of missing you, I can’t unhide.

A piece of me I keep on looking,

The love and care I keep on seeking.

Your gentle scent that I keep on searching,

Your warmest hug that I keep on hoping.

I won’t immortalize you in the stars, because they fade away.

I won’t remember you with a poem, for it will be forgotten one day.

I will just keep you safe in my heart,

so that you are with me in every way

You were the man I never had,

The man I miss and makes me sad.

The man I want to be with so bad,

The man I never had a chance to call my Dad.
