Just like people, animals also love
But how do they show it, when our names they can't even call?
Well just like us, they show it in many different ways
We may not be aware of it, but they love us forever and always
Just like people, animals also kiss
Especially for the people that they hold dear and miss
But unlike us, they smother us with many wet licks
It's their way of showing that they love us through thin and thick
Just like people, animals also greet
They wag their fuzzy, little tails, and show their sharp, pointy teeth
Just like people, animals also watch over us and keep us safe and sound
They protect us from harm and make sure that they never see us frown
Those are the ways how animals show their love
They are our important companions, given to us by the Lord above
So be sure to always give them happiness and affection, too
Because the more you love your pets, the more they love you
But how do people return their feelings?
They trap them in cages and let kids watch while squealing
Or they fire bullets in their bodies
To cook them, eat them, and fill up their tummies.
They tie them up by their necks in a pole
And feed them their leftovers in a washed-up, old bowl
Or make them try out peculiar things against their will
To ensure that their products are working—they don't care if they get ill
Those are the ways how people return their affection
By displaying their heads on their walls to add to their collection
And now let me ask you,
Would you feel loved if you were placed inside a zoo?
